Minton establishes a legal aid centre
On 15 November 2024, Minton Law Firm established its own legal aid centre and appointed Chen Jinshen as its director. The firm has taken part in legal aid work in Changning District for years, including telephone advice and duty advice at detention centres, and its Party branch has worked with partner communities to provide legal advice. A group of its lawyers, Mr Chen among them, have long taken part in legal aid on a voluntary basis. The centre is an attempt to develop a new model for that work.
On 15 November 2024, Minton Law Firm formally established its legal aid centre and appointed Chen Jinshen as its director.
The firm has taken part in legal aid work in Changning District for many years and has been well received for its telephone advice and its duty advice at detention centres. The firm's Party branch has worked with partner communities to provide legal advice, which the residents of those communities have welcomed. A group of lawyers, Chen Jinshen among them, have drawn on their professional strengths to take part in legal aid work over the long term and to provide legal services to the public free of charge.
Against that background, and in order to promote the spirit of the rule of law and to meet its social responsibilities, the firm has explored new models of legal aid and decided to establish a legal aid centre to advance its legal aid work.
