"Pulling together, building Minton": the firm's 2021 team-building weekend
On 16 and 17 April 2021 Shanghai Minton Law Firm held a two-day team-building event in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou. The lawyers were split into five groups for a treasure hunt and a tug-of-war, which tested both wits and stamina and brought out the ease with which each team worked together. The following day the group walked up Dayan Mountain through bamboo and streams, and visited Dayan Temple, a surviving late Ming and early Qing foundation, where they talked with the abbot and ate a vegetarian lunch. The weekend strengthened friendships and team spirit.
On 16 and 17 April 2021 Shanghai Minton Law Firm held a two-day team-building event in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou. It combined mental and physical exercise, drew the team closer together, improved the way the lawyers worked with one another and deepened friendships. Throughout the weekend the lawyers felt the strength of the team and the warmth of Minton.

The event took place at the Tianyu Kaiyuan Guantang Hotel in Hangzhou, a Jiangnan courtyard retreat hidden at the top of a wooded hill on the site of the former palace of Yunchang, father of King Goujian of Yue. A place where the culture of Wu and Yue has been preserved, it is thickly planted and beautifully scenic.
The Minton lawyers divided into five groups and competed at a treasure hunt and at tug-of-war. The contests brought out each team's coordination and ease with one another, and at the end first and second places were decided, while the team that came last performed together as a forfeit.

The next day the group walked up the mountain to see the scenery of Dayan Mountain, strolling through bamboo groves alive with birdsong beside running streams. The pure negative ions of the place left everyone refreshed, and the views were endless. Away from the busy, fast pace of ordinary work, there is a need to slow down and experience life in another posture.

Dayan Temple, also known as Mianliu Temple, survives from the late Ming and early Qing. It has no lavish decoration and no strong commercial flavour; like the bamboo on the way up and the clear stream, it is plain and peaceful. The group talked briefly with the abbot about Buddhist learning, toured the old temple and ate its distinctive vegetarian meal at midday, emptying mind and body and returning to nature. Stillness and movement together reflect the work and the life of a lawyer.
The first team-building weekend of 2021 at Minton Law Firm came to a successful end. In just two days friendships were deepened and convictions confirmed. Let us pull together and build Minton.
